BASIC TRAINING COURSE DATES

Our basic pet obedience course is for dogs over 12 weeks of age, no maximum age limit.
Next available course:

All courses postponed until further notice

We understand the need and importance to start training, especially with new puppies, and also see other training groups starting to open their doors and run outdoor training and one to ones.

Unfortunately, we have no idea at the moment when we will be able to commence training classes safely carrying out appropriate social distancing measures.

Both of us work in the nursing sector (one in the human and one in the veterinary) so the health and safety is paramount. We have no plans to start group classes as yet as we both feel it is way too early and are waiting to see if there is another surge in cases, in which case we will both be working extra hours at work. The requirement for 1st aid, if needed, and the risks this could bring plus, we can only have gatherings of up to 6 people which means we would have to reduce class numbers to 4 dogs (with only one handler per dog) which would also increase the cost of the course to make it viable.

Under normal circumstances we always hold the first 4 hour session at weekends either Saturday or Sunday depending on availability of the hall we use and then the rest of the course is on Tuesday evenings in the summer and at a weekend in the winter, but again this will depend on hall availability when we return to classes.

We do, under normal circumstances, allow all the family to attend but again when we return to training it will depend on Government advice on social distancing and our own risk assessment as to how many people are able to attend with the dog.

If you would like us to keep your details on file and contact you as soon as we are able to commence training and are booking classes please email one of us on either email address below:

John Rogerson Clean Boot Tracking Weekend

Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th September 2020 Course postponed to September 2021 – Dates TBA and will be announced soon

Clean boot tracking (tracking the clean boot) is a sport that is popular in Europe but, up till now has been restricted to Bloodhounds in the UK. Now for the first time this 2 day course will allow you access to this fascinating tracking sport in the UK as well.
As in working trials the dog is required to follow the track of a person but unlike Working Trials the dog is not required to take multiple turns on the track – it is much like search and rescue tracking where the dog is actually trying to find the person who laid the track not minute articles that the tracklayer has carefully placed!
The culmination of the track is for the dog to reach the end and then identify the person who laid the track from a line up of suspects! It is carried out at a fast walk or slow jog and has much more of a practical purpose than working trials or Schutzhund tracking – both great dog sports in their own right, but this is ………Different!!
PLUS lots of fun to train.

No prior experience needed as all training will be given.

This course is suitable for anybody who is a dog owner, has an interest in dogs and dog behaviour, training and problem solving.
Places will be limited – handler places now booking up fast
